Non-Contact Analyser
We have developed a compact analyser that can determine the concentration, or partial pressure, of species within gas mixtures or dissolved in liquids.
The benefit of the instrument is that it does not require samples to be taken from the fluid to be analysed.
It is particularly valuable for analysis in coloured fluids such as blood or urine. The benefit of not needing samples is that no tapping or probe is needed.
In blood, such tappings or probes can act as nuclei for the growth of potentially life-threatening clots. Current instruments measure oxygen and/or carbon dioxide, but can be readily be adapted to other species of interest.
A prototype instrument is illustrated, which contains all the necessary photoelectronics. If required, the instrument can be shrunk to a fraction of the size of the instrument shown.
